The Book ✯✯✯✯✯
I am such a sucker for clean historical romances, y'all. And I'm especially a sucker for anything written by the incredibly talented Mimi Matthews. Just check out my review for her short story, The Lost Letter.
I would swoon all day over her newest, The Matrimonial Advertisement if you let me, but I promise not to go overboard. In TMA, you meet strong and beautiful Lady Helena and the devastatingly dashing Captain Justin Thornhill.
Theirs is not a love match. Justin has a past checkered with rumor after rumor and something he cannot forgive himself for during his His Majesty's Army service in India. Helena is running from something, but it takes quite a bit of time to meet that particular demon.
In the end, this is less about romance and more about how honest, deep love is about sacrifice, protection, and support--not always about the sweet words and wooing of courtship.
My heart broke and sored for them in equal measure and I assure you, if you are at all a fan of romance with intrigue, you will adore this book.
Thank you to Mimi Matthews herself for reaching out and requesting I read her book as a gift. All opinions expressed herein are my own.
