Outrun the Wind by Elizabeth Tammi

The Book ✯✯✯

I really, really wanted to enjoy this one. It features Artemis, Apollo, and Atalanta. What couldn't you love?

Turns out, I didn't care for most of it. It doesn't have an ancient Greek feel. It doesn't feel like Hercules or The Odyssey. If that's what you're expecting, don't go there with this one. The characters are all fairly 2D, snarky, and unlikable. But I guess that really does fit ancient Greek tales, to a T.

The relationship featured was done with a light hand, and artfully crafted to show a realistic budding lesbian relationship. Friendship was the true base, and I appreciate this portion fully.

Apollo was nasty. Honestly, so was Artemis. And it is pretty difficult to see Apollo as the main antagonist when most literature has him as one of the kinder Olympians.

In all, it was an okay read, but nothing truly special.

  1. Hope your next read is more satisfying

  2. Great review. I'm never been able to get into mythology so it wouldn't be a book I would pick up. Pity it didn't work for you though. Here's to a better next read.

  3. Sorry you didn’t like this. I know I couldn’t read this.
