Mirage by Somaiya Daud

The Book ✯✯✯✯

Mirage follows Amani and Maram. One a princess, the other a farmer's daughter, and is the most clever twist on a mashup of Prince and the Pauper and Man in the Iron Mask I have read to date.

Amani is kidnapped from her village to play as Maram's body double as political unrest intensifies and Maram becomes more despised by her public. While the evils of the empire (and Mathis) know very few bounds, you find yourself rooting for Amani to find a peaceful solution, instead of resulting to war. You want Maram to be the person you think she could be, not the one she is. And you desperately want Amani and Idris to find their happy ending.

While there is action and romance, the plot is predictable....and I still definitely want more. I cannot wait!
