The Book
✯✯✯✯
Action packed and worthy of the praise that The Valiant received, Livingston delivers another amazing tale as we revisit the fierce Celtic fighter, Fallon, her beloved ludus gladiatrix family and the war she must bring to her own front door to save them.
The most amazing part of this entire book is the lengths sisters will go to defend and support each other. While they are both strong women, they learn to lean on each other and to listen to each other. Of course, we continue the budding romance between Fallon and Cai (and who doesn't love Caius?!). But the soul of this book is Fallon finally, beautifully, coming into her own.
A quick, delicious read, Ceasar and Cleopatra both make appearances in this well-researched Roman historical fiction. Pick it up today, you will not be disappointed. And while I recommend you read The Valiant first, it isn't necessary to understand The Defiant.
That cover draws me to this book, though it is not the sort of thing I usually read. Your brilliant review has also piqued my interest.
