The Book ✯✯✯✯✯
The epic conclusion to Rebel of the Sands. Listen up all aspiring young adult authors: THIS is how you finish strong.
We are back in the desert with Amani. She's as strong as ever, and her relationship with Jin is as swoon-worthy as ever. With more twists and turns, our beloved Djinni descendant leads the band of rebels in rescuing their prince and the hopes of taking back their country.
While realistic in the idea that some of the characters die (as the must in a war) it also was a breath of fresh air to have a young adult fantasy end on a happy, content note instead of an "at least we survived" note. The action sequences were well done, and we were given more time with Amani's beautiful control over the desert sands.
As always, Hamilton adds short chapters of "stories." Told like those passed down in generations, we get a glimpse into what her country will tell of Amani and her band of rebel warriors. Because, as we all know, the tales we tell are only a portion of the story.
It was just all around beautifully done and was the perfect book to get me out of my reading slump and back into reviewing.
