The Book
✯✯✯✯
What happens when a cold case murder thaws out in the middle of a Wyoming winter?
Wendelboe has delivered in a fantastic new murder mystery. Hunting the Five Point Killer is told mainly through third person, sprinkled with bone-chilling first person accounts from the mysterious murderer.
I tend to not enjoy mysteries, because I don't like trying to figure them out--it's like ruining the end of any other book. But Hunting gave me a run for my money. My instinct had it pegged at the 25% mark, but had me second guessing myself throughout the whole thing. Plus, I had no proof. Waiting for that to unfold was a beautiful balance of suspense and answers.
Arn, a retired homicide detective from Denver, Colorado was likeable.
Ana Maria was a spit-fire in her dedication to the case.
And Danny is the comedic relief I so wish that I could befreind.
The author has done his research through his years in law enforcement and experience living in Wyoming. It was done realistically and had me sleeping with lights on and the security system armed-- the mark of any great psychological thriller and coming out just in time for Halloween.
Thank you to NetGalley, C.M. Wendelboe, and Midnight Ink for the free ARC in exchange for an honest review.
