Belle by Sarah Price

The Book ✯✯✯✮

A sweet retelling of Beauty and the Beast with an Amish twist, Price delivers a cozy little read. It isn't much different from the original--just minus the magic and the actual Beast form. Instead, it focuses on a man who was a burn victim as a child and grew increasingly mean and reclusive as his Amish community ridiculed him.

Thankfully this was not an instalove romance. It was also nothing very new, but I found myself invested in Adam and Belle as people and stayed up late into the night so that they could get their happy ending all the faster.

If you need a quick, happy read, this one is for you. However, with the Amish focus, it also includes Christian lessons. I had no issue with this and took great comfort in the lessons it taught, but others that are not as religious may not enjoy this one.

    1. I bet she'd love it! Sunflowers are my favorite flowers, so I loved that the rose was changed. And the "secret" was refreshing.

  3. The amish lifestyle is a very familiar one for me, I've grown up around it my entire life. I also love the tale of beauty and the beast, so it's seem very compelling to me to see how the author was able to intertwine the 2 as for me it just seems like an unusual combination. I'll have to pick this book up and see for myself.

    1. You should really read it! It stays true to the Amish style I knew while in Pennsylvania, and the Beast didn't deserve it like in B&B. I think you'd like how this author does it. She has another coming out, too, that's an Amish Cinderella.

  6. An Amish Beauty and the Beast... why not, eh?! I don't personally follow a religion as such, but I find it hugely interesting and have read quite a few books with a religious setting. This one could be a win!

  7. I prefer stories that don't have instaromance as well. It makes it easier for me to believe the characters. This sounds like one of those books that will give you tears of joy.
